After he posted the content that goes against the organization's rules on misinformation related to the novel coronavirus pandemic, President Donald Trump saw his account banned form 12 hours, as Twitter decided to temporarily halt his activity on the application.

According to a spokesperson, the tweet that Trump Jr. shared goes against the company's COVID-19 misinformation policy. The tweet with a video showed dismissing masks and lockdown and promoted hydroxychloroquine. President Trump retweeted the video, which got his account banned.

It is ought to mention that amid the pandemic, the tensions between Twitter and the president have been increasing.

The spokesperson said in a statement: "Tweets with the video are in violation of our COVID-19 misinformation policy. We are taking action in line with our policy," and linked to a blog post with its policy, they added: "We are continuing to take action on new and existing Tweets with the video."

Another Twitter manager announced that the account has not been banned but only restricted for 12 hours. "This account has not been permanently suspended. Per the screenshot, the Tweet requires deletion because it violates our rules (sharing misinformation on COVID-19), and the account will have limited functionality for 12 hours," the spokesperson said in a tweet.

"The President did not Tweet the video in question, he Retweeted it. Therefore, the account owner of the Tweet he Retweeted will face enforcement action," another Twitter spokesperson said.

Many other platforms such as Facebook and Youtube have stood against the video after it generated millions of views.

Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube have all now taken action against the video which had already generated millions of views.

Trump Jr.'s original tweet has now been deleted.
