New York City news, New York news.

A NYPD cop is hailed a hero after he braved a tropical storm that was hitting Queens on Friday afternoon to go stop a suicidal woman from taking her own life.

The 47-year-old woman’s family called police to seek help after she left her residence armed and willing to end her life at around 2 p.m.

Officer Christopher Blom and his colleague had the tough mission to retrieve the woman and eventually save her from herself as torrential rain flooded the city.

The cops located the woman’s car and walked up to check on it: “Because of the storm it was hard to see inside. She’s crying and below the window line you can see the gun,” he recalled. “I just froze for a moment. I was nervous, but I felt that I needed to help her.”

After a brief discussion, Brom convinced the woman to see a doctor.
