An alliance of resigned law authorization officials has grouped together and shaped the Protect Our Police PAC to help pro-cop competitors running for elections.
Philadelphia-based Protect Our Police PAC, also called POP PAC, propelled Wednesday and is raising funds to put toward supported pro-police candidates and “independent expenditures for paid communication programs and media plans,” the group announced in a press release.
“As spineless elected officials turn their backs on cops, POP PAC will elect law & order candidates in their place,” the release states.
The declaration references the anti-police manner of speaking, fights and calls for offices to be defunded in the wake of the May 25 passing of George Floyd in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Floyd, a Black man, lost his life after a white cop held his knee on his neck for almost nine minutes, in spite of Floyd saying multiple times that he was unable to breathe. Protests emitted across the country.
Strains among police and a few individuals from the general population were running high even before Floyd's death, after Louisville, Ky., police shot Breonna Taylor, a Black emergency clinical professional, to death in March while executing no-knock court order.
The POP PAC official statement portrays how it will be the biggest association solely dedicated to giving the assets expected to choose competitors who will bolster our cops, law implementation, and people on call while in office.
"POP PAC will build the largest coalition of pro-police groups, organizations, unions and lodges in the country to fight to protect our police on the front line who selflessly risk their lives every day," the release further states. "POP PAC will also promote pro-police stories often ignored by the mainstream media."
