A 35-year-old man was taken into custody on several charges including gross abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence after a mutilated woman’s body, covered with flies, was found in a barrel at his backyard on June 30.

According to court documents, William Slaton cut off Cecily Cornett’s fingers and removed her tattoos with a razor knife before stuffing the 21-year-old victim’s body in a barrel in a horrific scene. Cornett’s fingers were discovered in a bowl inside the suspect’s house as well as eliminated skin.

Slaton told police that he was heavily intoxicated when he found Cecily’s body hanging in his basement where it was let for a couple of days before he put it in the barrel that he tossed over a fence.
