A Chicago toddler was pronounced dead at St. Bernard Hospital after being fatally shot on his way back home from laundromat with mom, police said.
The one-year-old is the latest victim of gun violence that is hitting Chicago since Father’s Day weekend with more than 100 people shot and 14 dead including five children.
The boy’s mom who was also grazed by a bullet told police that she was heading home Saturday at around 2 p.m. when an anonymous car approached her vehicle and someone shot her and the child.
“This is happening far too often,” Chief Fred Waller said. “Too many times, children are killed by senseless violence, and not only just children but grown-ups also. When is this going to stop? When are we going to say enough is enough?”
