An Illinois felon released on parole has been charged with six counts of murder after he set an apartment complex on fire killing two children and their neighbor.
A drug deal going bad resulted in a deadly fire in the early hours of Monday when 40-year-old Steven W. Coleman lit the victims’ apartment complex on fire. Celina Serrano, 13, her cousin, Shayla Walker, 8, and neighbor Carrie Hose, 49, died on the fierce fire while Celina’s mom and her sister, 12, suffered critical burns.
Police said that nine other residents escaped death amid the incident. Coleman has been charged with several counts including three counts of murder while committed a “forcible felony” and three counts of murder while committing deadly actions.
