Senators asking CDC to come up with a plan to fix drop in vaccinations

US news, US news.

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention received letters from seventeen Democratic senators, asking for a plan to fight an extreme drop in childhood vaccinations since the start of the pandemic.

The CDC reported, earlier this month, an important decrease in the number of vaccines ordered through a federal program that gives immunity for half of all kids in the country. Many states reported drops in immunizations.

The group of senators was organized by New Hampshire Sen. Maggie Hassan and asked the CDC to organize a program to reverse the trend.

In the letter, the senators expressed their concern regarding the decline in childhood immunization rates in the United States during the novel coronavirus pandemic and asked the CDC to act immediately to encourage and support the pediatric immunizations through the duration of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The CDC has cautioned that unvaccinated or under-vaccinated children will be at risk for other infectious diseases besides coronavirus.
