Lakewood news, New Jersey news.

Some Lakewood residents are apparently not taking their governor’s orders seriously when it comes to attending parties at a time where coronavirus cases reached more than 18,600 in New Jersey.

In the latest gathering ban violation, 10 people including a 99-year-old man were arrested and charged when police broke up their engagement party on Tuesday. The party hosts, Yaakov Kaufman and Eti Kaufman were also charged with child endangerment as they allowed their children to attend the event. The incident occurred in Lakewood Township where over 70 residents are COVID-19 infected.

On March 21, the state’s Gov. Phil Murphy implemented orders that ban gatherings such as parties, weddings, funerals, or other social events.
