Skokie news, Illinois news.

Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker announced on Saturday the death of an infant who had been diagnosed with the novel coronavirus.

Further details about the baby were not disclosed but the cause of death is under investigation. The state is the eighth in COVID-19 confirmed cases across the country with at least 3,491 cases. The death toll rose to 47 fatalities after 13 patients have died on Saturday.

In China, less than 6% of children were infected and only a 14-year-old was declared dead of the pandemic. The small fraction of infected children reveal their ability to fight the virus that has been labeled far more risky to older adults or young people with underlying health conditions.
