New York City news, New York news.

The New York City Department announced the loss of a third member, a 23-year veteran, while more than 500 others have been positively tested.

Detective Cedric Dixon was in his 40s, worked in the 32nd Precinct in Harlem and had underlying health conditions. The department didn’t give further information regarding how or when he got infected: “May we never forget the sacrifice of those workers who put themselves in harm’s way to keep you and your family safe,” NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea said.

Two other officers, Dennis Dickson and Giacomina Barr-Brown have passed away after contracting the virus. On Friday evening, 512 members of the NYPD were positively tested for the novel virus, including 442 uniformed members.
