Pediatrician confesses in suicide note to lying to parents about their children's vaccination

Cook County news, Illinois news.

An Illinois pediatrician who had committed suicide in September had reportedly revealed in his suicide note that he did not vaccinate children even when their parents asked for it.

58-year-old Dr. Van Koinis said that in his 10 years of work as a doctor, he gave false documentation to the parents stating that their children were immunized while they were not.

“He was well known for being someone who was into homeopathic medicine, and from what we have determined, it was well known that people opposed to vaccination could go to him,” Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart said.

The doctor was so “tortured” by his acts that he suffered “an overarching depression.” The allegations are the only reason that may have driven him to commit suicide.
