According to police, a New Jersey boy has shot himself dead Friday with an unsecured firearm he found at his family house in Burlington County.
The tragedy took place in the unit block of Maricopa Trail at about 7 p.m. Officers found Lincoln Mack, 4-year-old, bleeding from a serious bullet wound to the cheek. He was transported to Capital Health at Deborah and was pronounced dead shortly after 8 p.m., local news outlets reported.
Mack shot himself by accident after he gained access to the weapon. His relatives were inside the house when the incident occurred.
In a statement, Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina said: “I urge everyone who owns a gun to make sure it is secure and not accessible to any children in their home.”
