The suspect, 21-year-old Kyree Truax, faces charges of second-degree assault, second-degree possession of a weapon and reckless first-degree endangerment, police chief said. Syracuse, Kenton Buckner, Saturday.
The shooting took place at the Destiny USA mall at around 7pm. Black Friday, considered one of the busiest shopping days of the year.
The police arrived in a few seconds, said the police chief, and a 20-year-old man was found shot in the leg. He was taken to a nearby hospital.
Truax was arrested after being involved in a road accident as a result of the shooting, Buckner said. The police and detectives gave him a description of the suspect in the mall.
Rob Schoeneck, General Manager of the shopping center, told the press conference that mall staff and tenants had already trained in this scenario and congratulated the tenants for their reaction.
