A 64-year-old man, who was not identified, died after a shootout at approximately 6:15 am on Cordova Avenue, near Good Park Boulevard, in the west end of Akron, said Akron police spokesman, Lieutenant Michael Miller.

Police responded to news of a bullet in the house, the police said.

When the police arrived at the house, they found the man shot in the back. The police did not say whether the man was inside or outside the house.

The paramedics declared him dead on the scene.

No arrests have been made and the Summit County Medical Examiner's Office will identify the victim once the family has been notified.
