Four fifth-grade girls were arrested in Arizona after authorities uncovered their plot to murder a boy and make his death look like a suicide.
Police said each girl had a role in the plot to kill their schoolmate after luring him to a bathroom to carry out the crime.
One of the girls would bring the knife to school, the second would use it to stab the victim, the third would serve as a lookout, and the fourth would write the suicide note.
Investigators alleged the girls, aged 10 and 11, discussed the plot during lunch breaks last October and were overheard by other students who then alerted school officials.
The motive seems to be retaliation for a break-up involving at least one of the girls and the targeted boy.
During questioning, three of the girls expressed remorse, and the fourth laughed and offered excuses.
