A wrong-way crash killed one person and injured two others on Highway 76 late Friday, officials said.
The Colorado State Patrol said a GMC Sierra pickup truck driven by a 62-year-old was traveling east in the westbound lane of Highway 76 near County Road MM3 at around 11 p.m.
The driver of a Honda traveling west on the highway managed to swerve to avoid a head-on collision with the truck, but her front passenger side still struck the truck’s passenger side.
The truck rolled and landed on its roof. The Honda drove off the road. A passenger in the truck was killed in the crash.
The 44-year-old male victim and the two drivers were taken to an area hospital.
Authorities are working to determine why the truck was traveling the wrong way. The CSP said charges are pending.
