4 dead, 2 missing as disastrous floodwaters tear through Texas

At least four people have been confirmed dead, and two remain unaccounted for after their vehicles were swept away by significant floodwaters in San Antonio.

Police Chief William McManus said the two men and two women died, and at least two others are missing after a flood tore through the northeast part of the city.

“It’s hard to determine at this point exactly how they got swept away,” said San Antonio Fire Department Spokesman Woody Woodward.

  • “But it is an area where there was high water that was moving rapidly, and there were several people that were caught in that water that had climbed up into trees, and we did do a couple of rescues out of trees and some rescues out of vehicles.”

    First responders made 65 rescues overnight as a raging torrent battered the city.

    Meteorologist Eric Platt said a round of slow-moving thunderstorms caused the flooding.
