N.H. woman fatally struck by train while saving dog from tracks

A New Hampshire woman was killed when an Amtrak train struck her while she was saving a dog from the tracks, officials said.

42-year-old Alicia Leonardi was with her ex-boyfriend, walking his dog Jackson by the train tracks near Newfields Road in Exeter at around 3:30 p.m. Monday.

“She loved that dog. That dog was everything to her,” Cathleen Collis, the victim’s mom, said.

    Leonardi and her ex-boyfriend chased after the dog, and all three were struck by the train. The man survived the ordeal with minor injuries.

    “She’s a very happy, smiley, bubbly girl, and I’m going to miss her very much,” Collis said of her late daughter.
