Alabama teen charged with murder after man found dead in burning home

An Alabama teen is facing murder charges in connection with the death of a man whose body was discovered inside a burning home over the weekend.

Firefighters from Graysville and Adamsville responded to the house fire in the 500 block of Seventh Avenue S.W. in Graysville Sunday at around 9:30 p.m.

  • Crews found the residence completely engulfed in flames, and after efforts that lasted an hour, the blaze was extinguished, and a body was discovered inside.

    The male victim was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:17 p.m. His identity and cause of death were still not determined, according to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office.

    On Thursday, authorities announced the arrest of 18-year-old Jose Antonio Alvarado on murder and second-degree arson charges.
