2 killed, 9 injured in shooting at Philadelphia’s Fairmont Park

Two people are dead and nine others hurt after a mass shooting at Philadelphia’s Fairmont Park on Memorial Day, officials said.

Gunfire erupted just before 10:30 p.m. Monday at a large gathering of youngsters near Lemon Hill Drive and Sedgley Drive, Police Commissioner Kevin Bethel said.

    “The men and women were here earlier in the day, saw the activity, they were packing up as this incident unfolded, but unfortunately, the individuals continued to engage in gunfire even though the officers were in the area,” Bethel said.

    No arrests have been made. Police were also investigating a crash involving a Hyundai near the scene.
