A 4.1 magnitude earthquake struck southeast of Greenback, Tennessee Saturday morning and was felt across parts of the Southeast.
The minor quake struck just after 9 a.m. about 13 miles southeast of Greenback at a depth of about 15 miles.
“Yes, it was an earthquake that many felt in Knoxville,” local police said on X.
“We have not received any reports of injuries or damage.”
Residents across at least seven states, including Tennessee, Georgia, and North Carolina, reported feeling the shaking.
“Five minutes after 9 this morning (my) bedroom started shaking and the handles on my dresser drawers were rattling for 5-10 seconds,” a Woodstock, Georgia resident said.
The USGS advised that the chances of aftershocks are low. There were no reports of damage or injuries linked to the quake.
