Toddler girl found dead in hot car outside Maryland school

Authorities in Montgomery County, Maryland, are investigating a suspected hot car death after a toddler was found dead inside a vehicle near a local school.

Police said the 2-year-old girl was found unresponsive in a car near Arcola Elementary School in Silver Spring.

  • The baby’s father had dropped off another child at the school and forgotten to take the baby to her babysitter, leaving her in the car for several hours.

    “The officers got there. They found a toddler who was unresponsive. The parents were distraught, and the toddler was taken to an area hospital where they were pronounced dead,” said Police Spokesperson Sheira Goff.

    No charges have been filed in the toddler’s death. Foul play or intent is not suspected.
