Houston news, Texas news.

A Texas couple was arrested and charged with murder in connection with the May 2024 death of their baby daughter, who died in a dresser drawer at the motel where they had been staying.

Harris County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the motel on Rancho Mission Drive near Highway 6 on May 26, 2024, over an unresponsive child.

Once at the scene, first responders found 4-month-old Brookelynn Fancher dead in the dresser drawer.

The baby’s parents, 37-year-old Jeremy Fancher and 20-year-old Destiny Campos, told detectives they had been preparing for a Memorial Day celebration when they noticed Brookelynn was not moving.

A housekeeper told detectives that she once heard the baby crying in the dresser drawer while her mother slept.

When she confronted the mother, “Campos told her it was okay while laughing.”

The Harris County medical examiner’s office ruled that Brookelynn died of suffocation.

“Horrific details. I’m glad our team has remained relentless and sought justice for this precious infant,” Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said.
