Police in Columbus, Ohio, deemed the deaths of two men and a woman a double murder-suicide after their bodies were discovered inside a home early Thursday.
Aiden David, 19, Giannh Viars, 21, and Michael Hughes, 23, were identified as the three deceased people found at an apartment complex at 12:20 a.m.
Police believe Hughes killed his ex-wife, Viars, and her new boyfriend, David, before taking his own life.
Viars and Hughes were married but recently separated. Hughes reportedly forced his way into the couple’s apartment and shot David dead before shooting Viars as she tried to flee.
Hughes shot Viars a second time, killing her after she collapsed by the front door. He then turned the gun on himself.
“Sadly, we’ve reported on this a lot,” said Police Sgt. Joe Albert. “We’ve had a lot of domestic violence in the city.”
“We can’t urge enough for people who are victims of domestic violence to reach out and get help.”
