An Oregon teen was charged with murder in connection with the death of his 6-week-old son, officials said.
Maliki Skutley, 19, was initially charged with first-degree assault after his son was admitted to Randall Children’s Hospital with a severe brain injury on April 20.
The infant died three days later due to a lack of oxygen to the brain. Doctors said his injuries were caused by extreme pressure or blunt force trauma.
Prosecutors said the infant’s mother was at work when the alleged abuse occurred.
“We are completely devastated and never in a million years imagined we’d have to go through this,” the family said on a GoFundMe page.
“We are going through a very difficult time and appreciate all the love & support y’all have poured in.”
