Authorities are looking for the gunman who opened fire near a South Memphis school, killing two people Thursday afternoon.
The shooting occurred at around 3 p.m. Thursday on South Lauderdale Street near Booker T. Washington High School.
Two male victims were found dead at the scene, suffering from gunshot wounds.
Deputy Chief Webb Kirkdoffer said that investigators are reviewing surveillance footage from the scene in their search for the perpetrators.
The high school was placed on a temporary lockdown. A witness said that three men in ski masks were carrying automatic rifles and chasing someone before the shots were fired.
“The whole community ought to be hurt, we’re losing every day, and enough is enough,” said CEO of Ride of Tears Mary Trice.
“We say that every day, but until organizations come together as one, we will never win.”
