Fears of serial killer grow in New England after body found off bike path

A woman was found dead off a Springfield, Massachusetts bike trail, reviving the residents’ fears of a serial killer roaming free across New England towns.

Police Spokesman Ryan Walsh said that first responders pronounced the woman dead at the scene on Hall of Fame Avenue Tuesday afternoon.

“The SPD Homicide Unit, under the direction of Captain Trent Duda, is conducting an unattended death investigation in conjunction with the @Hampden DA Murder Unit, pending an autopsy by the Medical Examiner,” Walsh said.

  • Tuesday’s discovery marks the eighth time a body has been found across Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island in recent weeks.

    While authorities did not confirm any connection between the deaths, residents started linking them to the same perpetrator.

    “Internet rumors are just that,” Walsh commented.
