A Mississippi dad and his wife are facing murder charges in connection with the death of the man’s 3-year-old son.
Scott County Sheriff Mike Lee said that concerned family members notified police about a toddler, who had not been seen in months.
His father, Rodkis Fenderson, and stepmother, Kierra Patrick, never reported him missing and kept telling relatives varying stories about his whereabouts.
Investigators said Fenderson beat his son to death on January 26 before burying his remains.
Last week, Fenderson led deputies to the site where he buried his slain son.
Fenderson was charged with murder, while Patrick was charged with accessory after the fact.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation, the Mississippi State University Anthropology Department, and the Mississippi Crime Scene Unit recovered the victim’s remains.
