Three people were killed after a small plane crashed into a river in Nebraska, officials said.
The non-commercial aircraft was traveling along the Platte River when it plunged south of Fremont just after 8 p.m. Friday.
Several agencies, including the Nebraska State Patrol, the Saunders County Sheriff’s Office, the Waterloo Fire Department, and the Fremont Fire Department, responded to the scene.
Dodge County Sheriff’s Sgt. Brie Frank confirmed that three bodies were recovered from the wreckage.
“The three occupants of the plane have been recovered and are confirmed deceased,” officials said.
“Those identities will not be released at this time pending next of kin notification.”
The cause of the crash remains unknown. The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are leading the investigation.
