Washington County authorities identified the mother who was found dead along with her three children inside a Cornelius, Oregon home on Tuesday.
A 911 caller sent police to the family home at around 3 p.m., where the bodies were found in a building attached to the home.
Police identified the bodies as 37-year-old Hong Phuong Le, her two daughters, Viena Mai Dam and Ha Ngan Dam, ages 2 and 5, and her 7-year-old son Thanh Tien Dam.
The two older children were enrolled at Cornelius Elementary School not far from the home.
Investigators did not elaborate on the circumstances surrounding the deaths but said the incident was “isolated.”
“This is pretty hard to talk about,” said sheriff’s office spokesperson, Deputy David Huey.
“Our community has been shaken to its core,” Cornelius Police Chief Mitch Coley added.
“While the investigation is still ongoing and details are limited, I want to acknowledge the heartbreak this brings to the families involved and our entire city,”
“This is a deeply emotional time for everyone: neighbors, friends, and the first responders who were called to the scene. I ask that we all come together with compassion and care.”
