Authorities in Sverdlovsk, Russia, are suspecting a bear attack resulted in the gruesome death of a 44-year-old woman whose severed head was found mauled beyond recognition near where she was last seen.

Anastasia Bulgakova was last seen at around midnight on March 9, walking along a road in an area where bears and wolves roamed.

After she was reported missing, police and locals launched a search for the woman before making the grisly discovery of a severed head.
