Kentucky boy swept away by floodwaters while walking to school bus stop

Floodwaters swept away a child, killing him, while he walked to a school bus stop early Friday morning, authorities said.

The tragic incident occurred at around 6:30 a.m. in the Hickory Hills area as the victim walked to a bus stop.

His body was located a little over two hours later. He was pronounced dead.

    Forecasters had warned residents of the Midwest and South of catastrophic and torrential rainfall that could cause life-threatening floods.

    On Thursday, Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear told locals to be careful while navigating through high levels of water.

    “Especially when we have this much rain, it’s the decisions about when to get out, about what to drive through, when to go stay with someone else that can be the difference between life and death.”
