Authorities in Manchester, New Hampshire, are seeking the public’s help in their search for the mother of a newborn baby found in a local pond late last month.

Manchester Police Chief Peter Marr said Baby Jane Doe was discovered in the pond at around 4 p.m. on March 27.

“We believe the baby was placed in the water sometime between Tuesday, March 25, and Thursday, March 27, before she was found at approximately 4 p.m. on the 27th,” Marr said at a press conference Wednesday.

  • While some 50 tips had been received since police announced the discovery last week, Marr said investigators still need any information, photos, or videos that may help solve the case.

“We’re also still requesting information about anyone who was pregnant during that time frame but is no longer pregnant and does not have a newborn baby with them,” Marr said.

Noting that the baby’s mother may not be from the area, Marr addressed her and urged her to surrender.

“Come forward, tell us what happened. At the end of the day, you know, if she needs help, we need to be able to provide that help for her, and we’re also trying to seek justice for this baby,” he said.
