Houston news, Texas news.

A Houston father accused of abandoning his injured wife and kids after a crash in north Houston earlier this week has been arrested.

Terrance Carr was charged with two counts of abandoning a child in imminent danger.

He was reportedly out on bond for a previous DUI charge when he crashed into a Chevrolet Avalanche on March 25.

Police said Carr was driving his Ford Expedition around 100 mph in a 35 mph zone when he crashed. The impact sent the Ford airborne, ejecting a child, before landing in a bayou.

One of his children suffered a collapsed lung while the other needed emergency surgery for abdominal wounds.

Passengers of the Chevrolet watched in disbelief as Carr crawled out of the wreck and ran away from the scene, leaving his children behind.

A witness said Carr smelled of alcohol and drugs and said, “I’m running, I’m wanted.”

“I have no idea what was going through his mind at the time. I don’t know if there is some other reason he felt he needed to flee,” said HPD Capt. Ryan Watson.
