Houston news, Texas news.

Police in Houston are looking for a father who allegedly abandoned his badly wounded family after causing a car crash late Tuesday.

The man was driving at 100 mph when he collided with a Chevy Avalanche making a turn into a gas station on Houston’s Yale Street.

The family’s Ford Expedition flung into the air and flipped over before landing in a ditch, ejecting an 8-year-old girl in the process.

The Chevy’s driver, John McCoy, whose vehicle ended up in the guardrail, watched in disbelief as the father ran from the scene, leaving his injured family behind.

Two of the victims were hospitalized in critical condition, while three others were in serious condition as of Tuesday night.

Police described the children were “very young ages, looked like toddlers.”

“I have no idea what’s going through his mind at the time. I don’t know if there was some reason that he felt he needed to flee,” HPD Captain Ryan Watson said.
