A Connecticut man was fatally shot after he gunned down his wife and son during a move-out that turned violent Thursday evening, authorities said.
Officers responded to a home in Wolcott at around 6:30 p.m. over reports of a domestic violence incident.
Once at the scene, they found three deceased people: a 59-year-old man, his 55-year-old wife, and their 34-year-old son.
Investigators learned that the couple had been estranged for a year and that the father had been moving out of the home when an argument between him and his wife erupted.
The man pointed a gun at his wife, but their son intervened, only for the father to shoot them both.
A friend of the slain son then shot the man dead in what authorities described as a “self-defense” act.
Police Chief Edward Stephens described the incident as “very unfortunate for everyone involved,” adding that there was no threat to the community.
