The Toledo girl who was found brutally slaughtered inside a burned-out home earlier this week came to school covered in bruises, her teacher says.
Keimani Latigue, 13, often came to school with injuries, leading teachers to report their observations to authorities.
“She would have welt marks on the back of her neck, back, and stomach,” sixth-grade English teacher Kayleene Hairabedian said.
“She was constantly bruised. She was fearful of going home.”
Latigue went missing on March 17 and was last seen with her father, 33-year-old Darnell Jones, who is now charged with murder.
On Monday, she was found dead on the second floor of a burned-out residence. The coroner’s office said Latigue died from multiple incised wounds of the neck.
Police said the teen was raped, nearly decapitated and had her hands severed.
