Man charged in shooting that killed 8-year-old; injured younger boy

A Chicago man has been arrested in connection to a Thursday shooting that killed an 8-year-old boy and injured another child on the city’s South Side.

Derrick Taylor, 32, was charged with child endangerment and possession of a weapon as a felon.

The shooting took place in the 1400 block of East 71st Place in the Grand Crossing neighborhood.

    A 5-year-old boy was grazed by a bullet and had a non-life-threatening head injury.

    Authorities did not disclose the circumstances leading up to the shooting.
