Three people were killed and 14 injured in a shooting at a Las Cruces park, police in New Mexico said Saturday.
The shooting occurred at around 10 p.m. Friday at the city’s Young Park.
The injured victims ranged in age from 16 to 36. They were sent to three local hospitals.
Those killed were two 19-year-old men and a 16-year-old boy. Police are still looking for a suspect.
“Part of me wanted to write that this is something you never really think this is going to happen in your city, but that actually feels deeply untrue,” Mayor Pro Tem Johana Bencomo said.
“Honestly, nowadays, a tragedy like this feels like a nightmare, just waiting to come true at any possible moment, yet also always praying and hoping it never will.”
A press conference is scheduled for later Saturday.
