Woman armed with pistol gunned down by police after threatening judge, staff at Montana courthouse

An armed woman was shot dead by police after she allegedly threatened a judge and staff at a Montana courthouse, authorities said.

Lewis & Clark County Sheriff’s deputies and Helena Police officers responded to reports of “an adult female with a pistol” at the courthouse.

  • “The female was uncompliant with Officers and Deputies' commands which resulted in the Officers and Deputies utilizing deadly force,” the sheriff’s office said.

    The woman died at the scene. The Montana Department of Criminal Investigation is probing the incident.

    Two sheriff’s deputies have been placed on administrative leave as part of standard protocol in police involved shootings.
