An Instagram influencer succumbed to her burns days after she was buried in hot asphalt during a horrific pileup crash in Mexico.
Elise Caffee, 45, known on social media as “3kidstravel”, was traveling with her husband Dan to attend a wedding in Cancun on March 6 when they got involved in a pileup crash.
Their car was struck by a truck hauling hot asphalt, causing it to flip.
Caffee became trapped under “steaming hot” concrete and suffered severe burns.
The driver of the truck was also killed in the crash. Dan survived with minor injuries.
Elise was taken to a local hospital, then to Salt Lake City, Utah for further treatment. She was able to share details about her tragic experience before her demise.
“Hospital workers rushed out and immediately started trying to help get people out from under cars as did my Dan, but were getting burned through their protective gloves because the asphalt was so hot,” she shared in a post.
The influencer ultimately succumbed to her injuries after she “held on so long and fought so hard against an impossibly difficult set of circumstances,” her family said.
