An American Airlines plane caught fire after landing at Denver International Airport Thursday, sending twelve people to hospitals.
Slides were deployed to evacuate passengers quickly after fire erupted at the American Airlines Boeing 737-800 at around 5:15 p.m., the Federal Aviation Administration said.
The flight diverted to Denver after taking off from Colorado Springs Airport in the direction of Dallas Fort Worth, the FAA said.
The Boeing’s engine caught fire while taxiing to the gate after landing safely at Denver Airport.
Officials said that the twelve people taken to hospitals suffered minor injuries.
“We thank our crew members, DEN team and first responders for their quick and decisive action with the safety of everyone on board and on the ground as the priority,” the company said.
