Russian President Vladimir Putin said Thursday that he is “in favor” of the US proposal of a ceasefire in Ukraine although he still had “serious questions” and “nuances” that he needs to discuss directly with President Trump.
“I think we need to talk to our American colleagues…Maybe have a phone call with President Trump and discuss this with him,” Putin told reporters.
He also voiced concerns that Ukraine would use the 30-day ceasefire to remobilize its troops at a time when his country is advancing on the battlefield.
“We agree with the proposals to halt the fighting, but we proceed from the assumption that the ceasefire should lead to a lasting peace and remove the root causes of the crisis,” Putin added.
