A Texas girl is dead and another behind bars after a fatal stabbing at a Killeen middle school, officials said Monday.
14-year-old Serenity Baker was stabbed to death at around 11:30 a.m. following an altercation with a female student at Roy J. Smith Middle School, police said.
The suspect was “quickly apprehended” and the school was placed on lockdown following the tragic incident.
“Our hearts are heavy as we navigate this difficult time together,” said KISD Superintendent Dr. Jo Ann Fey.
Classes will resume on Monday, March 24 after spring break. A GoFundMe page has been set up to help cover funeral expenses.
“Serenity was a bright, loving, and compassionate young soul with a promising future ahead of her,” the page read.
“She brought joy to everyone around her, and her kindness touched so many lives.”
