Pileup crash claims lives of father, infant on icy Vermont highway

A Vermont man and his infant son were killed in a pileup crash along an icy highway Saturday evening, authorities said.

The crash occurred on I-91 when a fuel tanker truck stopped abruptly ahead of a Hyundai that failed to stop due to the icy road and rear-ended the truck.

  • Several minor crashes and slid-offs followed the initial collision. Police said the Hyundai’s driver, 39-year-old Taylor Binnington and his 4-month-old son Parry died in the crash.

    Binnington’s wife and a 3-year-old child sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

    Officials said the pileup crash involved more than 10 vehicles due to slippery roads and low visibility.
