An Arkansas man has reportedly confessed to beating a 2-year-old girl to death while babysitting her earlier this week.
19-year-old Wesley Davis made his first court appearance on Thursday after his charges were upgraded to first-degree murder.
Sevier County Sheriff Robert Gentry said the teen was babysitting Ava Ann Marie Tabor, 2, on March 1 at a Lockesburg home when he allegedly assaulted her.
When the toddler became unresponsive, Davis called seeking medical help. The girl died on March 4.
“She didn’t deserve what happened to her and we are going to do our best to see that the judicial system takes care of the one that harmed her,” the sheriff said.
“There has been death threats and we have had threats of bodily injuries and harm to Mr. Davis.”
The victim’s mother said her late baby’s blue eyes and smile lit up every room.
“My baby did not deserve this. And he deserves every bad thing that’s coming to him. And I will not stop until he gets it,” she said.
“Ava was loved. She will get justice.”
