Mother charged for not feeding toddler for 36 hours, causing child’s death

A Missouri woman was arrested and charged with child abuse in connection to the Monday death of her 1-year-old child.

21-year-old Alyssa Wehmeyer stands accused of not feeding her child for more than 36 hours, causing the baby’s death.

    The Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Criminal Investigations Unit deemed the child’s death suspicious and arrested the mother after further investigation.

    Wehmeyer is being held in the Scott County Jail on a $100,000 bond. Her first court appearance is slated for Thursday.
