2 men found dead after reported shooting in Indiana; person of interest in custody

Authorities in Brownsburg, Indiana have a person of interest in custody after two men were found shot and killed early Wednesday morning.

Officers responding to reports of a shooting in the 300 block of Acre Avenue in Brownsville found two deceased men at around 2:30 a.m.

The victims were identified as Lucas Brearley, 19, and Zachary Johnson, 25. Police did not identify the person of interest but said that there was no ongoing threat to the community.

  • “Today was a shock. Pretty weird to come out here and see all this,” a neighbor said.

    “The dog made a little bit of ruckus a little after two. When I was getting ready to go back to bed, I heard a gunshot and some doors slamming on a car.”

    Longtime resident Gary Gamble wished the fatal shooting was an outlier.

    “I wouldn’t say, ‘Hey, don’t come to Brownsburg.’ It’s still a good place to live. Things happen. There are some things we can’t control. I think we have a pretty good police force.”
