Harris County authorities are investigating after a boy was found shot to death near a retention pond in Katy late Tuesday.
Deputies responded to reports of a shooting at High Stone Lane at around 9 p.m. and were led to the retention pond.
Investigators learned that two groups of men had met up at the scene for unknown reasons prior to the shooting.
A teen pulled out a gun and shot the boy from the other group. After that, everyone fled the scene leaving the boy to die from his injuries.
The victim’s identity was not immediately known, but police described him as a high school-age resident of the neighborhood.
When officers arrived, family members of the boy were already at the scene. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
