Texas man arrested in Florida after stealing, swallowing $770K worth of jewelry

A Texas man was arrested after he allegedly stole and swallowed $770K worth of jewelry on Feb. 26.

Jaythan Gilder, 32, allegedly showed up at an Orlando Tiffany & Co. store claiming he came on behalf of an Orlando Magic player and asking to see pieces of jewelry.

The suspect was brought to a VIP room where he was caught on security cameras swiping the jewelry before fleeing the store, injuring a store associate.

    The Florida Highway Patrol troopers arrested Gilder and took him to Washington County Jail where a live scan showed he had “foreign objects in his stomach.”

    The objects are believed to be the stolen earrings that “will need to be collected by the [Washington County Sheriff’s Office] after they are passed through a Gilder’s system prior to confirming.”
